Izzy - ID
Izzy is being fostered in Moscow, ID. Her foster family is a previous adopter originally in AZ. After they moved to ID, they learned about a female "breeder" GSP who was being rehomed in a FB page. The foster Mom reached out to see if we could help. Although we don't rescue in the PNW anymore, we just couldn't NOT try to help this girl! She is 8 years old and had lived outdoors her whole life. She was still intact and had clearly been bred a lot. Our foster family took her in and together we got her vaccinated and spayed. Her mammary glands were also questionable, so we had them biopsied and ultimately removed. Pathology came back as benign cysts, which was great news! Since being with her foster family, this is what we've learned about her: She loves all humans, big and small, she currently lives with 4 kids ages 6, 10, & 12 year old twins. She gets along with other dogs, but is a dominant female, so she is not a fan of other dominant females. She would do best with a non-dominant male or as an only female. Her foster family's Dad, who does not live in same house as Izzy, has a "spicy" mini Aussie and they get along fine. Her foster Mom is home 90% of the time so Izzy is used to her people being home more than not. When they run errands without her, she does good in her crate alone for a few hours, but have never left her more than 4 hours. If she is left alone outside of her crate she WILL counter surf, which I feel is more of a GSP character trait then a bad habit! She likes her crate and sleeps in it at night. Her recall is excellent but could use more training on a leash. If Izzy sounds like she could be a good fit for your family and you live near Moscow, ID or are willing to drive to get her, please apply!
